The long awaited Instagram For Business features are finally rolling out, to a subset of users — those already having a Facebook Page for their business — according to Instagram themselves.
This means three things will change for brands and businesses, all from within the mobile app:
- Business profiles: compared to regular user profiles, Instagram Business Profiles will benefit from:
- A contact button that will allow users to email the owner of the profile.
- A clickable location tag, which will let profile owners display their address on a map.
- A category, to help everyone understand what a profile is about, at a glance (pretty much like Facebook pages’ categories).

- Insights: an analytics solution providing data about one’s audience demographics and behavior, as well as posts performances.

- Promote: the ability to turn any post — in particular top-performing or key posts — into an ad, amplifying its organic reach and adding a call-to-action (which means: a link).

Although clickable links inside “regular” post captions do not seem to be on the agenda yet, these three new features are a step in the right direction to make Instagram For Business more interactive for brands and businesses.
