On August 18, Twitter announced new ways to control your experience on the network, including Quality Filter.
This feature has been tested since last year with verified accounts and is now rolling out for everyone.
The timing is great, as Twitter keeps getting criticized for not protecting enough its “real”, active members.
When you turn on Quality Filter, the algorithm will:
- Filter out low quality content such as duplicated and automated tweets, and posts from suspicious accounts.
- Improve the quality of the tweets you see.
- Learn from your habits to get better over time.
Of course, Quality Filter does not hide tweets from people you follow or with whom you interacted recently.
