Let’s Talk About The Facebook & Instagram API Changes

#Update — Let’s Talk About The Facebook & Instagram API Changes

Facebook is currently introducing new measures to ensure increased privacy and security of data throughout their ecosystem.

At Loomly, making sure your data is safe and secure is our top priority and we fully support Facebook’s effort here, which we believe is in the best interest of the entire Facebook community, from users to brands and developers.

These changes to the Facebook & Instagram APIs are modifying the way third-party applications interact with data, potentially impacting functionality.

As far as Loomly is concerned, the following three features are getting disabled for now:

  • Connect and publish posts to Facebook Groups & Events.
  • Tag other Facebook Pages with @mentions.
  • Get demographics (age, gender, location) for Facebook Pages.

All your other favorite features will keep working as usual, on Facebook and all other platforms.

We are honored to have the opportunity to build Loomly for you every day and we will go on doing so in full compliance with the terms of service of the Facebook & Instagram APIs — just like we always have.

As usual, if you have any question about Loomly, or if you just want to say hi, feel free to reach out to us in the chat or to send us a note at support@loomly.com.

Sincerely,

The Loomly Team.

Access All Your Posts Inside Your New Master Calendar

#Update — Access All Your Posts Inside Your New Master Calendar

Today, we are happy to announce a feature that has been in the works for quite a long time: Master Calendar.

In a nutshell, Master Calendar allows you to Access all your posts — from all your calendars — inside one single, consolidated super calendar.

Master Calendar automatically appears on your Dashboard as soon as you have more than one calendar:

Access All Your Posts Inside Your New Master Calendar Dashboard Screenshot

The List View & Calendar View you already know inside out allow you to browse, sort and filter all your posts, just like in any other calendar.

This update is particularly useful when:

  • You manage multiple brands / projects / clients and want to get an overview of everything going on at a glance.
  • You need to balance publishing frequency between different social accounts potentially targeting a similar audience.
  • You want to duplicate content from one calendar to another, seeing how duplicated posts work together.

Log in & check out Master Calendar in your Dashboard from here.

As always — and probably even more than usual — Master Calendar is a feature that you inspired us to build and we can hardly thank you enough for the amazing feedback you send us everyday.

You are the best partners we could dream of and it is our greatest honor to be allowed to develop Loomly for you.

Sincerely,

The Loomly Team.

Save Facebook Audiences And Target Your Fans Consistently

#Update — Save Facebook Audiences And Target Your Fans Consistently

In February, we launched Facebook Audience Targeting features allowing you to publish posts even more accurately.

Today, we are releasing an update allowing you to save Facebook audiences — and load them — from Post Builder to target your favorite audiences in a few clicks.

This is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

1. When you create a post, define a Facebook audience in Post Builder:

Save Facebook Audiences And Target Your Fans Consistently Screenshot 1

2. Name it and save it:

Save Facebook Audiences And Target Your Fans Consistently Screenshot 2

3. Next time you create a post, simply load it in two clicks:

Save Facebook Audiences And Target Your Fans Consistently Screenshot 3

You can currently save & load Facebook audiences with Preferred Audiences & Audience Restrictions parameters, and in the near future, you will be able to save a third type of audience parameters… but that’s a secret!

As always, this is a feature we were able to develop because you requested it (when we shipped Facebook Audience Targeting last month), and we cannot thank you enough for your amazing, continuous feedback and enthusiasm.

We exist to serve you and building Loomly for you everyday is our greatest honor.

Sincerely,

The Loomly Team.

Take Content Management To New Heights With Your New Library Advanced Features

#Loomly — Take Content Management To New Heights With Your New Library Advanced Features

Since we launched Library, back in December, it has become one of the most popular components of Loomly, and today, thanks to your — always — amazing feedback, we are raising the bar, with five Library Advanced Features:

  • Post Templates: what if you could create posts with no dates, and reuse them whenever you need them? Well, now you can! This is great when you have an idea for a post but you don’t know yet when to publish it. This is also quite handy when you need a boilerplate for recurring posts that you want to publish over and over again with slight updates.

  • Notes: another new format available in your Library are Notes, which allow you to save text and links in your Library just like you would upload photos and videos to use later. This is ideal when you come across a website you find useful or when someone in your team mentions an idea during a meeting.

  • Labels: just like you can add labels to your posts, you can now add labels to anything in your Library. And, of course, when you create a post from one or multiple items in your Library, Labels from that item(s) is/are automatically applied to your new post. You can easily bulk edit labels if you need to update multiple Library items at the same time.

  • Filters: you can filter your Library items by type, in case you only want to see photos, videos, notes or post templates. Cherry on the cake, you can now filter your Library items based on whether they have already been used in a post or not, which proves very useful when you want to make sure that you have never used an asset before.

  • Descriptions: last but not least, you can now add descriptions to all your Library items, making it easier to organize your assets. When you add a description to a note and create a post from that note, the description is automatically used as the copy of the post (which you can edit as necessary). If you create a post from multiple notes, descriptions will be concatenated to form the copy of the post.

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages

#Loomly — Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages

Last week, we launched Audience Targeting features, allowing you to defined a Preferred Audience and/or Audience Restrictions when publishing a post on Facebook.

Today, we are sharing a tip with you: you can take advantage of these Audience Targeting features to publish Facebook posts in multiple languages to a single Facebook Page.

It’s really simple:

  • Create a new post in Post Builder with the first language you want to use, for instance English:

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages Step 1

  • Define Audience Restrictions to only show this post to English-speaking users:

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages Step 2

  • Schedule that post and then Duplicate it:

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages Step 3

  • Create a new post in Post Builder with the second language you want to use, for instance French:

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages Step 4

  • Define Audience Restrictions to only show this post to French-speaking users:

Publish Facebook Posts In Multiple Languages Step 5

  • Schedule your post and duplicate it again, as many times as you need, depending on how many languages you want to translate your post into.

This way, each version of your post will only be visible to the audience you define: English-speaking users will see your post in English, French-speaking users will see your post in French, and so on.

We hope you find this tip useful and leverage it to publish Facebook posts in multiple languages.

As always, let us know how things go,

The Loomly Team.

Instagram Content Publishing API

#Loomly — What About The Instagram Content Publishing API?

As you are certainly aware, until now, third-party applications & social media tools such as Loomly were not able to post automatically to Instagram.

On January 30, 2018 Instagram announced an update of the Instagram Graph API, including interesting new possibilities, in particular one long-awaited feature: automated publishing.

Instagram content publishing api homepage screenshot

As you can read in the documentation of the Instagram API:

The Content Publishing API is a subset of Instagram Graph API endpoints that allow you to publish media objects.

So, the big question is: will Loomly be integrating with the Instagram Content Publishing API?

The short answer is: we will implement the new Instagram Content Publishing API as soon as possible.

The longer answer is:

  • This new Instagram Content Publishing API is currently available in closed beta and we are getting in line to get access to it: as soon as we do, we will be able to implement it within a couple of days.
  • In any case, it is worth noting that this new Instagram Content Publishing API only allows automated publishing of single images, which means that for all other formats (videos & slideshows), you will still need to receive a notification and publish your posts manually.
  • We also need to keep in mind that automated posting via the Instagram Content Publishing API is only available for Instagram Business Accounts.
  • In the meantime, we are also looking into ways to offer support for Instagram Stories.

As always, if you have any question about this — or about anything else, for that matter — please feel free to reach out to us at support@loomly.com: we will be delighted to assist you.

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm!
