Track Your Post Performances With Analytics

#Loomly — Major Update: Track Your Post Performances With Analytics

Today, we are humbly introducing the first version* of a brand-new feature in Loomly: Analytics.

In each calendar, you can access your post performances by clicking on the Post Analytics icon in your toolbar:

You can track your post performances for all six social media platforms we currently support, month by month, with the following metrics:

  • Facebook: reactions, comments & shares.
  • Twitter: likes & retweets.
  • Instagram: likes & comments.
  • Pinterest: likes, comments & saves.
  • Google+: “+1″s, comments & shares.
  • LinkedIn: likes & comments.

Loomly Analytics Supported Social Networks

Analytics will be collected automatically for all platforms except for Instagram, which requires that you paste the URL of your posts to link them to Loomly, as follows:

As always, this new feature comes at no additional cost: whether you are enjoying your 15-day free trial, or are already a Loomly subscriber, you don’t need to pay a dime more to access your post analytics.

And, as always, we want to thank you dearly for your support, your kind words and your enthusiasm: it’s a pleasure and an honor to build Loomly for you.

The Loomly Team.

*As mentioned at the top of this announcement, we are humbly announcing the first version of Loomly Analytics.

“Humbly” because we are not pretending to change the game in terms of social media analytics: helping you track your post performances is the obvious next step in the social media content creation process Loomly was designed for — and we want to help you do just that, as simply as possible.

“First version” because we have a lot in store for you to make this new feature better, and as usual, we can’t wait to learn from your amazingly constructive feedback and shape this part of Loomly accordingly.

In particular, we would love to know:

  • Which additional metrics are you interested in tracking?
  • How would you like to filter your data?
  • Do you have any preference when it comes to graphs and data visualization?
  • How do you want to export your post analytics?
  • Is there another place / view in Loomly where you would like to see your post metrics displayed?

If you have an answer to one or more of the above questions, feel free to reach out to us, either through our contact page or directly at contact@loomly.com.

Discover Your New List And Calendar Views

#Loomly — Update: Discover Your New List And Calendar Views

This month, our team is happy to introduce a “design” update, including new list and calendar views, as well as a couple of new features.

Besides a user interface lifting, your new list view now allows you to:

  • Sort posts by date, subject, copy & comments, either in ascending or descending order.
  • Filter posts by date format, channel, media, status & assignee.

Your new calendar view went through a minor appearance update (with “rounded” post items instead of “square” ones) but comes with four new cool features, letting you:

  • Filter posts by date, format, channel, media, status & assignee.
  • See post ideas on their corresponding dates.
  • Create quick posts (just like you do on your dashboard) directly from a calendar cell.
  • Drag and drop posts to update their date.

While we certainly took the liberty of coming up with most of the visual updates in your new list and calendars views, all new features were inspired and sparked by your outstanding feedback.

Since Day 1, you have been amazingly supportive, and for that, we thank you dearly.

The Loomly Team.

Calendy Update Publish Posts With Multiple Images

#Loomly — Update: Publish Posts With Multiple Images

Today is Black Forest Cake Day… and if you already enjoy Loomly as much as you like, let’s say, chocolate cake, this could very well be the cherry on your (Black Forest) cake: your favorite social media calendar now offers support for posts with multiple images.

Loomly update posts with multiple images support

You can create posts with multiple images for Facebook and Twitter and publish them automatically if you use Loomly’s native scheduling features.

You can also create posts with multiple images for Instagram, although, as you know, you will need to publish these posts manually.

Since Day 1, we have been tremendously lucky to be guided in the development of Loomly by your constructive feedback: this new feature is a perfect illustration of this approach.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for being the best users we can dream of.

The Loomly Team.

Calendy Update Manage Your Notifications With Email Digests

#Loomly — Update: Manage Your Notifications With Email Digests

So far, Loomly was sending you instant notifications whenever something was happening inside your account.

Today, we are pleased to introduce some brand new settings that allow you to choose when you want to receive notifications:

  • As they happen: our default settings, which keep sending instant notifications as usual.
  • Once per hour: an hourly email digest that compiles all the notifications from the past hour in a single email.
  • Once a day: a daily email digest that compiles all the notifications from the past day in a single email.
  • Once a week: a weekly email digest that compiles all the notifications from the past week in a single email.
  • Never: deactivate all emails if you prefer consuming notifications directly on your Loomly Dashboard.

You can apply the above settings independently to each kind of notification Loomly sends: post status change, assignment, comment, etc.

And, of course, you can set different preferences for each of your calendar, and each user of a calendar can define his or her own settings.

These new email notification preferences are available directly inside your Account, in a brand new Notifications tab.

Once again, this is a feature that was inspired by your amazing and constructive feedback: thank you so much for your ongoing support and enthusiasm.

You are simply the best community we could dream of and we can’t wait to show you what’s next this month… stay tuned!

The Loomly Team.

Bonus: since we are talking about updates, we just increased the video upload limit from 30MB to 200MB, so you can now schedule posts with larger media files 😉

Why Social Media Tools Cannot Post Automatically To Instagram

#Loomly — Why Social Media Tools Cannot Post Automatically To Instagram

Loomly integrates with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ & LinkedIn.

Posts can be scheduled and published automatically to all the above platforms except Instagram.

Here is everything you need to know about this limitation.

1. How social media tools publish posts

Social media tools like Loomly publish posts to social networks through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Through their respective APIs, social media platform allow third-party applications to:

  • Collect data, for instance to: get your username, your profile picture and the stats of your posts.
  • Send data, for instance to: publish a post.

2. Why social media tools cannot post automatically to Instagram

Each social network decides what kind of data third-party applications can collect and send through the API.

While Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ & LinkedIn all allow third-party applications to publish content to their respective platforms, Instagram does not.

This means that it is technically not possible to post automatically to Instagram through the official Instagram API.

Why Social Media Tools Cannot Post Automatically To Instagram Barrier

3. The risk of using social media tools that claim to post automatically to Instagram

There are indeed social media tools out there that claim to post to Instagram.

Such tools achieve that in one of two ways:

  • Either, they reverse-engineered the official Instagram API and figured out how to bypass the limitation described above: what might sound like a clever hack, is actually an illegal one, as a total violation of Instagram’s Platform Policy (see Section A. General Terms, Item #32).
  • Or, they require your username and your password to do so, which is also against Instagram’s Platform Policy (see Section A. General Terms, Item #32), and is against web security 101.

In both cases, by using social media tools that claim to post automatically to Instagram, you are taking significant risks, which could lead to your content being deleted from Instagram, and your account hijacked or banned from the platform.

4. What to do until social media tools are allowed to post automatically to Instagram

Given all the above, we at Loomly obviously went the legal route and implemented the next best thing to automatic publishing, which is an automatic email reminder including the image and the caption of your post.

This will make it easy for you to share your post from a smartphone through a simple copy and paste process.

Of course, should Instagram ever allow third-party applications to publish posts to their platform, Loomly will activate such feature as fast as humanly possible.

We hope this explanation makes sense and encourage you to reach out to us at contact@loomly.com with any question or suggestion.

Thank you so much to you all for your understanding,

The Loomly Team.
